Abstract: This paper examines The Last of the Mohicans to analyze the artistic presentation of its aesthetic of violence and the cultural metaphors embedded within. Through magnificent natural landscapes, the portrayal of Native American martial spirit, and the heroic characterization of the protagonist Nathaniel, the film transforms violent scenes into an aesthetic experience with epic qualities. The study further reveals that this aesthetics of violence reflects the colonial expansion logic of the Westward Expansion, the fierce conflict between white settler civilization and Native American civilization, and the displacement of tribal covenants by the ethos of individual contract. The tragic ending of the film reveals the failure of civilizational integration under historical violence, offering profound enlightenment of "harmony without uniformity" for contemporary inter-civilizational exchanges.
