Analysis of sexual dimorphism in the Selenotoca multifasciata

Using t一tests，we identified 15 significantly divergent traits，followed by principal component analysis （PCA），R一cluster analysis，and stepwise discriminant analysis to establish a sex一discrimination equation. The results showed that among the 2O standardized traits，14 exhibited highly significant differences （ P<0.01⟩ while 2 showed significant differences （ P<0. 05 ）. PCA revealed that the first four principal components accounted for 84.551% of the cumulative variance，with sex-related differences primarily concentrated in trunk，head，and body fullness indices.The discriminant function achieved an overall accuracy of 82.4% in sex identification. The study demonstrated that females tend to have a taller body and shorter，thicker caudal peduncles，whereas males exhibit a more slender body with longer，thinner caudal peduncles. These findings indicate significant morphological dimorphism between sexes in Selenotoca multifasciata ， supporting the feasibility of using morphological traits for sex discrimination.
