Abstract: Dyslipidemia and glucose metabolism disorders significantly increase the risk various chronic diseases, posing a severe threat to public health. Liupao tea, a type black tea, is believed to have potential in improving glucose and lipid metabolism due to its rich bioactive compounds. This study aimed to investigate the effects Liupao tea with different aging years on blood pressure, blood glucose, blood lipids, body composition, sleep, depression, and anxiety in individuals with dyslipidemia and glucose metabolism disorders. A randomized, double-blind, longitudinal clinical intervention design was used, enrolling 50 participants with dyslipidemia and glucose metabolism disorders, randomly assigned to either a group consuming 4-year-aged Liupao tea or a group consuming 10-year-aged Liupao tea, with 25 participants in each group. Participants consumed 6g Liupao tea daily for 90 days. Blood pressure, glucose and lipid metabolism, and body composition parameters were measured before and after the intervention, and sleep quality, anxiety, and depression were assessed using questionnaires. After 90 days intervention, significant reductions were observed in systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and fasting insulin levels (INS) in the overall population, as well as in both groups consuming 4-year-aged and 10-year-aged Liupao tea. Additionally, significant decreases were found in body mass index (BMI), body weight, body fat percentage, visceral fat area, and waist circumference, while lean body weight and protein content significantly increased. The differences in changes in sleep quality, anxiety, and depression scores were not statistically significant. Furthermore, no significant differences were found between the two groups in terms improvements in blood pressure, blood lipids, and body composition. These findings suggest that Liupao tea, as a natural traditional beverage, has potential applications in regulating glucose and lipid metabolism disorders.
