Abstract:Inelectromagneticmeasurementwhiledriling (EM-MWD),thetraditionalcoherentdemodulationmethodshave highbiterrorrate(BER)duetosignalatenuationandnoiseinterference,whichresultsininaccuratedatadecoding.Toolvetis problem,amethodcombiningafiniteimpulseresponse(FIR)filteringalgorithmandanadaptivefilteringalgorithmisdesigned withtheaimof improvingtheacuracyofdemodulation.Inthemethod,theout-of-bandnoiseisremovedbytheFIRfiltering algorithm,andthenthefileredsignalisfedintotwoadaptiveflterswithdferentreferencesignals.Theoutputsignalsof the twofltersarecomparedforjudgment,therebyobtainingthedecodeddata.Inordertoverifytheefectivenessoftheproposed method,theelectromagneticwavecommunicationprocessundertwodiferentnoiseconditionsissimulatedwithsimulation software.Thesimulationresultsindicatethat,incomparisonwiththetraditionalcoherentdemodulationmethod,inaGaussian whitenoiseenvironment,whenthebaudrateis2b/s,temethodachievesanapproximate1dBimprovementinsignal-tooise ratio (SNR)withlitledferenceinBER.AtabaudrateofO.5b/s,itsSNRisenhancedbyabout6dB,anditsBERisreduced byapproximately 8% . Inthe field noise environment,theBERof thecombinedalgorithmisloweredbyabout 4% .Therefore, underthe same SNR,the proposed method can reduce the BER significantly,demonstratingsuperiordemodulation performance.
