摘要： “夸张”所扩大或缩小的是事物的数量特征。“夸张”话语运用的认知心理基础是人们通过对事物的相邻关系延伸的把握，从而对被描写事物的某一方面的数量特征产生特殊的感悟。“夸张”话语的生成过程是在交际意向态度制约下所产生的“表达度”范围内对相邻环节作出选择的结果，而“夸张”的理解则是知觉行为所表现出的理解性、恒常性心理特征相互作用的结果；夸张蕴含了有意义的认知内容。

Abstract: What the figure of speech ‘hyperbole’ intends to exaggerate is the numeral feature of a thing, either enormously enlarging or extremely narrowing. The cognitive psychological basis for the application of ‘hyperbole’ relies on human beings’ special perception of the numeral feature of the described thing by means of their mastery of the extension of the continuum of proximity concerned. While the production of an expression of ‘hyperbole’ is the result of making choice of an intentional-oriented item within the extension of the required exaggeration, the process of its understanding is the result of the interaction between the natures of comprehensiveness and constancy of perception. The expression of ‘hyperbole’ implies meaningful cognitive content.
