西方大学男女同校制的开端与意义

  [摘 要]1837年,美国中西部俄亥俄州的奥柏林学院首次招收了四名女生,标志着西方传统大学之门向妇女开放。但是从严格意义上而言,高等教育即便是在男女同校的体制下,却仍然长期实行男女隔离的教育。西方社会男尊女卑的宗教传统以及当时生物学上的某些谬论的误导是阻碍西方大学实施男女同校制教育的主导原因,但是随着西方社会风气的不断开化以及其它的经济、政治等因素的作用,女性进入传统大学和男性接受同等的高等教育的现实条件不断成熟,历史的潮流必将还女性包括受教育权利在内的一切平等的社会权利。

  The Beginning of Coeducation in Western Higher Education

  Institutions and Its Significance

   Abstract: In 1837, Oberlin College, Ohio, in the middle west of the United States, first enrolled four women students, which signposted the opening of the door

  of traditional higher education institutions to women. However, strictly speaking, in spite of the beginning of coeducation, the higher education sphere had been regulating sexual segregated educational practice for a long time. Women's inferior position resulted from religious tradition and the misleading of biological bogy in the Western Society are the main barriers to coeducation in higher education institutions. The gradual overshadow of the discrimination against women

  and other economic and political factors provided a realistic condition for women to enter traditional higher education institutions to receive equal higher education. The current in history is bound to return women every equal social right

  including the right in receiving education.
